Cell Phone Numbers - bluetooth

Cell phone numbers aren't going anywhere. Neither are cars. But the combination of the two can be deadly in the wrong hands. Perhaps that is why so far four states have banned using hand-held devices (New York, California, New Jersey, and Connecticut). There are 28 states with some type of restriction on hand-held cell phone use while driving while other states fighting to ban talking on the phone while driving without the use of a hands-free device. Meanwhile, texting while driving is banned in more states.

There are multiple ways to eliminate hands-on talking and dialing. The first way to get a hands-free system would be to buy a new car. Of course, this is probably the most expensive route to take. GM vehicles come with a service called On-Star and Ford responded with their Sync by Microsoft.

The second option is to purchase a GPS device. Both Garmin and TomTom, along with lesser known models use Bluetooth to sync with your cell phone (as long as it is Bluetooth compatible) so you can access your contact list and dial without taking your hands off the wheel. Check your owner's manuals for both devices and follow the step-by-step instructions on how to use the hands-free dialing. Some use voice-activation while others do require you to use the GPS touch screen.

A third option is to buy a Bluetooth device for your vehicle. The Bluetooth device is a nice addition to your cell phone number. The device connects to your cell phone / cell phone number and has the ability to communicate the voice wirelessly to the device.

I purchased a speaker phone for my father's truck so that he could use voice-activated dialing for his phone. These systems are fairly easy to set up and really easy to use. You can buy a simple device like I did, or purchase a whole Bluetooth system for your car. They range in size and price depending on your needs.

For those who think they'll never need a hands-free device, the day is soon coming when it will be required. It is each person's responsibility to make sure they follow the law and ensure their own safety on the road.

With the gaining popularity of cell phone numbers, bluetooth devices and cell phone directories, it would be ideal to see a cell phone directory application that can communicate using the bluetooth.  Who knows, maybe someday.. Read more on top cell phone directories..
