Cell phone numbers and text messaging
Text messaging has changed our lives dramatically. Not only has the English language changed with teenagers eliminating vowels to make texting faster, but even business has changed. Boarding passes can be text to your cell phone rather than printing a pass.
Last week I was planning a trip with a friend. The travel arrangements had been made and she was going to text me when she was done with work so we could meet up to leave. I became concerned when I never got a text message on my cell phone. Just as I was about to leave, I checked my e-mail to see if I had any last minute messages and saw that I had emails from my friend, from her cell phone. She thought she had text me, but she instead accidentally e-mailed me.
Cell Phones today are so amazing that there is little they can't do. They are cameras, camcorders, voice recorders, they are web browsers, calculators, calendars, GPS, and e-mail. With all of these applications (not counting the applications that are special to the Apple iPhone), it seems inevitable that mistakes will be made.
The ability to have e-mails in your cell phone directory can be a great tool. More people are using smart cell phones such as Black Berry, iPhone, Trio, and Palm Pilot. These devices are specially created for sending and receiving e-mails. There is no such thing as the office or home office anymore. Now you can have your office with you wherever you go.
The text messaging service and cell phone numbers has been reaching some of the highest volumes since teenagers have started using these services.
