Nokia Cell Phone Numbers

Ten years ago I got my first cellular phone. It was a Nokia and by today's standard was huge. I'm not saying it was a Zack Morris or Night at the Roxbury phone, but at least twice the size of the LG I have today. This phone's contact list could hold 100 cell phone numbers which pales by comparison to the 1000 cell phone numbers or more than can be held in today's phones. Each phone number took a spot in the contact list. This made calling someone a hassle by scrolling through their multiple cell phone numbers (i.e. Mom Cell Phone Number, Mom Work, Mom Home).

Today's cell phones allow a single contact to have multiple cell phone numbers listed and therefore they don't diminish the number of people you can have in your cell phone directory.

This change from phones of the past to today's is an adjustment to people who are just now getting a new phone. My parents are an example of those who haven't grasped the concept of multiple numbers listed under one contact. I programmed my contact information for my mother's phone and although she would mean to call my work number, she would always call my cell phone number because she didn't know how to locate the right number. Her phone would default to my cellular number, the first number I entered in her phone.

Her phone allows for five entries per contact (mobilel phone number, home, work, e-mail, and alternate). To locate the cell phone number she wants, they have icons to label each number: a phone for mobile phone, a house for the home number, a building for work, and an @ symbol for e-mail. When looking for the contact she wants, she must scroll down to the name she is seeking, then use the right and left arrows/buttons to scroll to the contact information she needs whether it be the work number or the e-mail address.

Having a cell phone that has the ability to contain a huge cell phone number contact list is important.  Read more on cell phone numbers
