Free cell phone directory – how does it work?

Hi,

I’m new to the cell phone directory industry, but you have me curious how you can offer a free cell phone directory to the public. Most of the time when I hear companies are offering services for free the is a catch, but there are time when the company only decides to bill for certain service making every attempt to deliver something free like craigslist. Is this similar to that?

Very good question and I’m glad you asked. Our business plan was modeled after the craigslist site. We do what ever our end users ask. When I started this website I had no intentions on ever making a penny on it. All of a sudden people on the Internet start to flock to it. It blew up faster then I could ever imagine. I knew there was a need because I couldn’t lookup a cell phone numbers for free to save my life. There was nothing out there like this and there needed to be. Shortly I had to make some quick decisions to bring in some sort of revenue even to handle the hardware costs that I was incurring. So I started to send users to paysites if my free cell phone directory doesn’t have the cell phone number you are attempting to lookup. So again I’m able to find a way to offer the end user “YOU” a service for free while maintaining server costs. Over several years this site became the leader in the industry and I started to hire staff to support the daily routine so I can focus on the software. This is probably a little more information then you were asking for but I thought I would personally write you a response on this question.
