Alabama cell phone numbers: An Overview

The State of Alabama is found on the southern part of the United States with the state of Georgia to its east, Tennessee to its north, Mississippi to its West, and the Gulf of Mexico and Florida to its south. Alabama’s largest city is Birmingham and its capital is Montgomery.

Art lovers will delight in the fact that there are various art galleries such as the Birmingham Museum of Art which is the biggest art museum in Alabama. If you love dance then a visit to Birmingham would not be complete without taking a look at the state’s major opera, ballet and symphony orchestra companies like the Birmingham Ballet, Alabama Ballet, Birmingham Concert Chorale, Opera Birmingham, Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival and many more.

However, you should learn to be extra careful while walking and visiting Birmingham as crime is really a big problem in the said city. There have been a large increase in murder rates in the past few years up to the present and rumors say that the mayor of the city has not really done a great job in gaining control over crime. Out of all the cities in the US, Birmingham is among the top 20 in violent crime and holds the number seven spot in terms of highest murder rate.

A lot of the violence and crime are said to not only happen in Birmingham homes but also in homes throughout the state of Alabama. The State of Alabama is situated in the south section of the United States of America. It is surrounded by Tennessee at north, to the east is Georgia, to the south is Florida and the Gulf of Mexico and the west is Mississippi. Alabama is the 30th in overall land area and is placed second in the magnitude of its domestic waterways. The state ranks 23rd in inhabitants with more or less 4.6 million residents in the year 2006. Starting the American Civil War up to the Second World War, Alabama, similar to many Southern States, went through an economic hardship, in some way because of constant reliance on agriculture. White country interests dominated the state administration up until the 1960s, whereas town wellbeing was underrepresented. The state flower is the Camellia; their state tree is the Longleaf Pine. Montgomery is the capital of Alabama, and the largest municipality by inhabitants is Birmingham. Huntsville is the largest city by total land area. Mobile is the oldest city In the middle of the Native American people once residing in the area of present day Alabama were the Alabama or Alibamu, Koasati, Mobile, Choctaw, Cherokee, Creek, and Chickasaw. Dealings with the Northeast by means of the Ohio River started during the Burial Mound Period about 1000 BC-700 AD and continued nonstop until European contact. The agrarian Mississippian culture wrapped the majority of the state starting from 1600 to 1000 AD, with one of its chief centers at the Moundville Archaeological Site within Moundville, Alabama. Artifacts retrieved from archaeological digs at Moundville were a key component in the putting together of the Southeastern Ceremonial Complex. Southern Alabama was French as of 1702 to 1763, component of British West Florida starting 1763 to 1780, and component of Spanish West Florida beginning 1780 to 1814. Central and Northern Alabama was a component of British Georgia since 1763 to 1783 and a component of the American Mississippi region from then on. Its statehood was postponed because of not having a coastline; set right when Andrew Jackson seized Spanish Mobile in 1814. Alabama was the 22nd state to join the Union, in 1819. Alabama was the original frontier in the 1830s or 1820s. Settlers swiftly arrived to benefit from rich soils. Planters took slaves with them, and traders transported in more since the Upper South cotton plantations stretched out. The market of the central "Black Belt" attributed large cotton plantations whose owners constructed their wealth on the effort of enslaved African Americans. It was coined for the fertile and dark soil. In another place unfortunate whites were survival farmers. According to the 1860’s census, enslaved Africans consisted of 45% of the state's inhabitants of 964,201. There were only 2,690 liberated persons of color.
